Gregg M asked:
I went snowboarding today and at some point when I must have hit a box or something my side rail was hit and now its dented inwards and completely snapped in half. The part where the side rail snapped makes a huge bump in the base and the side rail is all bent where it snapped. Will burton repair and replace my board I’ve only used it 3 times and I just bought it a month ago so its definitely in warranty

They should if your still in warrenty. You should contact the company about it and see what happens. You’ll never no until you ask.
Hm..I have a Burton. They might replace it because its still under warranty. But, because you did the damage yourself they might say its your fault. But, give them a call anyway sometimes theyre cool about that stuff =]
Do you mean your whole board snapped in half? Or just the side rail?
If the side rail:
If they won’t fix it take it to a shop that can tune your board for you. It may cost a little extra but they can weld it back together with this hot glue gun-like thing.
idk… my ski coach fixed my skis like that when I screwed up the edge.
to be honest with snowboards the “warranty” is a little sketchy. The warranty covers manufacture defects only. what you got going on will be considered in their eyes “self inflicted damage due to abuse and/or normal wear and tear”. They won’t replace and unfortunately you’re SOL
Nah, I highly doubt it. You might be able to try if you know somebody who works for Burton fairly well, but that’s damage that you caused. If your edge is dented completely, that’s not a cheap fix. It usually costs about $100 and it’s a gamble whether or not they can successfully fix it.
I’ve never seen this done, but I spoke to a shop worker about a seriously dented edge, and he told me that if it was really serious, he’d remove the base around the broken part and try pulling the edge back out and straitening it (as straight as an edge can be) and then rebuilding the base. It’s not an easy job and it could fail. The labor is the biggest part of the cost.
As for a cracked or snapped edge, if you really wanted to save the board, the edge would probably have to be relaid. Which is probably even more expensive.
Maybe it’s time to buy a new board? Sierrasnowboard is doing 50% off all ‘09 decks today. If you don’t like Sierra, you can get it price matched at DogFunk and Porter’s Tahoe.
