anthony n asked:
The night before last i had some *** run me off the road in my truck and i scraped the front drivers side panel against a small tree. Its not a serious repair, but insurance wants me to pay a 500 deductible to repair it when it looks like i can remove it myself and take a soft mallet to it and pop out the dent. im having trouble removing it though so i thought i’d ask around here. Any response would be greatly appreciated.

go to an auto parts store like auto zone or napa. They have repair books by Haynes or Chilton. These tell you everything you need to know about how to take apart your vehicle and repair. You can also open the hood remove the bolts holding the panel on. There will be bolts on the bottom too. Should come right off. Use a rubber mallet and maybe even wrap it in an old blanket and tap don’t pound the dent.
I am alomost positive there are a some screws near the door handle. Also the majority of the time they have clips, once you remove the clips by force they never go back on as tight as when first installed. Go to the dealer and get new ones. They are not expensive. Once you have removed the screws and identified where the clips are, the door panel will need upward pressure to remove. Careful not to do it too hard because the wiring for the power windows is still conected. Good luck.
